We woke up super (5am) early to get ready and be to the hospital by 6:30. It seemed like we were the first people there but alas it was a very LONG wait. I have no idea why they want you to check in so early when your not even scheduled to start till 8. Well 8 came and went and about 8:30 we finally saw the Dr come rushing in. The nurse was kind enough to let us know that the Dr was running behind and there was one other person before us. Seriously!!! We could have slept for another 2 hours!!!! So we waited. And played. And drove the cars. Matt had fun while we waited but you could tell he was getting hungry because he wanted his Choc. Milk that he KNEW was in his backpack. The last thing he had to eat was at 7:30 the night before and hes used to eating breakfast at 8 so he was ready to eat. Poor boy!!!
Versed!!!! LMAO thats about all i can say about that. It was like a drunk man that wanted to move. He did ok for awhile. Thought it was funny to beat on me and then he was getting really frustrated and wanted to walk. I held him up and he couldnt even put weight on his legs and instantly fell over a little. It was the FUNNIEST thing in the world.
Finally it was time to go back. All was going as planned. Not too exciting but man the wait. EXCRUCIATING!!!! It seemed like the minutes just went slowly by. Finally about 1.5 hours later we could go back. He was already starting to wake up, which is good, but OMG!! He looked lke HELL to say it lightly. Every time he cried there was blood all over. Of course it was on his eye so it looked 10x worse than what it really was. He was fine when he was sleeping but as soon as he woke up and started crying the blood just poured out. At least this time he was waking up, not like a repeat of last time. Golly it looked soo bad. I didnt know what to do other than try to tell him that it was ok. I felt helpless. There was nothing i could do. When he did start waking up it was pretty bad so they gave him some morphine and that seemed to help for a little bit and it knocked him out. He started waking up again and did a little better this time. He was drinking some juice out of a straw but everytime he drank his O2 went way down again.
The smell was HORRIBLE!!! You could just smell and taste the anesthesia coming off him. Ick. Again we had to do another breathing treatment because he wasnt coughing like he should when they come out of anesthesia. It kinda seemed to help and he coughed a few good coughs. Our time was up in recovery and he still wasnt safe enough to go home. By this time it was a little after 12 in the afternoon so we got our own little private room to wait while the rest of the anesthesia wore off. Better to be safe than sorry.
About an hour after getting to our room he was fine to go home. But we had to wait another 4 hours since he had just had a breathing treatment their protocall is to wait 4 hours. That was fine with us as we could get a little sleep while Matt napped. Yes he was napping. It was ok because he was up and moving around and eating popsicles and his O2 had not gone down and was staying completely stable.
Finally at about 5ish we got to go home. I was so glad that we didnt have to stay the night!!!!! Off to home we went.
1 Week Later
Went to pick Matt up from Ryans after a few days of not seeing him. His eye was all puffy and there was not a definate arch to his eye. So a call went to the Dr. at 8:30 at night. Sent some pictures off and was told to send some more at 10 am. He did not like how puffy and red it was. If it still was like that in the am we were going to have an appt at noon. Just send the pics off and was told that its not too bad and that he doesnt see any signs of infection. So no trip to Spokane and we can just wait and see how it looks. Ugh!!!!!
